Tungl is Icelandic for ‘moon’ and to our ear it sounds both heavy and dark but also mythical and magical. The Tungl moonphase is the first idea we brought to life. Conceived from 40’s nostalgia, we imagined it being on the wrist of Cary Grant in a scene from ’North by Northwest’.
Inspired by the golden era of similar timepieces it is both adaptable and robust.
The curves are a vital part of the design. The curved dial, the curved hands and the curved glass are all created to emulate the feel of a vintage watch.
Choosing a strep can be hard. The blue Italian leather strap is as classic as it gets and the blue on blue just makes everything more blue, in the good sense. It's both very formal but never too formal to wear with jeans or shorts. It’s just good taste.
For our second recommendation we are torn between the brown Italian leather strap and the Milanese mesh. They both compliment the blue dial very well and they both are dressy enough to be both formal and casual attire. They both add to the vintage feel of the watch but the Milanese mesh adds just a little more sparkle to the steel case so that will be our second recommendation.
