Tungl is Icelandic for ‘moon’ and to our ear it sounds both heavy and dark but also mythical and magical. The Tungl moonphase is the first idea we brought to life. Conceived from 40’s nostalgia, we imagined it being on the wrist of Cary Grant in a scene from ’North by Northwest’.
Inspired by the golden era of similar timepieces it is both adaptable and robust.
The curves are a vital part of the design. The curved dial, the curved hands and the curved glass are all created to emulate the feel of a vintage watch.
Black Italian leather on a black dialed watch is a classic choice. The black leather allows for the golden indexes and the golden week-hand to really shine. You are never underdressed with this combination.
Grey Italian suede and the black dial is our second recommendation. It just looks great. The soft suede against the black dial gives the watch a warm and casual feeling despite a moonphase being a “dressier” watch.
