Description
While The Surplus Shirt takes its inspiration from the OG-107 fatigues of the 1970s, Taylor Stitch has applied some major updates in fabric, fit, and finish. A slightly heftier construction ensures durability and rich character with age, while the reverse sateen fabrication offers a smooth interior and a texturally nuanced hand feel. The result is a versatile, wearable shirt that tips its hat to history rather than being stuck in it.
Material
The Surplus Shirt is crafted from a tightly woven organic cotton sateen that’s been flipped and stone-washed to bring out the natural character of the fabric. Sateen was introduced to as a lighter-weight option to keep troops cool in the sweltering Pacific, and while most of us won’t be enduring five-mile marches through in tropics, the principles that earned this fabric its rugged reputation prove just as useful on an impromptu camping trip or a night out in the city.
